V okviru festivala Art Stays 2024, katerega tema je prostor, je na ogled razstava z naslovom Ekosofizmi. Zgodbe o naravnih spravah združuje šest umetnikov različnih generacij, katerih delo je vedno zaznamovala tesna povezanost med človekom in naravo. Če sofizem kot filozofski izraz kontemplira razmišljanje, ki vodi v zmotne premisleke, pa želi volja do opazovanja in razmišljanja, ki jo premikajo dela teh avtorjev, namesto tega utemeljiti moralno vrednost nove „okoljske“ zavesti, kjer si antropična komponenta ne podreja s premočjo in ni v konfliktu z naravnim delom. Gre za to, da se predlaga prav ravnovesje, ki mora biti enakovredno med človekom, naravo in prostorom, ki si ga delita. Medtem ko sta ekologija in okoljevarstvo pogosto pomenila zavajajoč ali z zastavami mahajoč ekstremizem, se malo obravnavana ekosofija nagiba v smer globljega razloga za sobivanje vsakega živega sistema. To je tisto, kar nas želi navdihniti. V tem smislu tudi dela vstopajo v prostor križnega hodnika na odmerjen, skoraj neviden način: so majhna znamenja, ki jih je treba – to velja tudi za nekatera dela večjih dimenzij – poiskati, razumeti in pozdraviti zaradi njihove lahkotnosti, liričnosti, učinkovitega in trajnega vrednostnega odmeva. As part of the 2024 edition of Art Stays, whose theme is Space, the exhibition entitled Ecosophisms. Stories of Natural Reconciliations, brings together six artists from different generations whose work has always been characterised by a close correlation between man and nature. If sophism, as a philosophical term, contemplates reasoning that leads to fallacious considerations, the will to observe and reflect moved by the works of these authors wants, instead, to reason on the moral value of a new ‘environmental’ consciousness where the anthropic component does not subjugate with supremacy nor conflict with the natural part. The idea is to suggest precisely a balance that must be equal between man, nature and the space they share. While ecology and environmentalism have often entailed misleading or flag-waving extremism, the little-discussed ecosophy leans in the direction of a deeper reason for the cohabitation of every living system. This is what we want to be inspired by. In this sense, the works also enter the space of the Cloister in a measured, almost invisible way: they are small signs that – this also applies to some works of more generous dimensions – are to be sought out, understood and welcomed in their lightness, their lyricism, their effective and enduring value resonance. Cesare Galluzzo se je rodil leta 1987 v Milanu, kjer živi in dela, ter se šolal na milanski politehniki. Kmalu je začel razstavljati v Italiji in tujini, njegova dela pa so bila pridobljena v mednarodne javne in zasebne zbirke. Poučuje na U.T.E. „Cardinale Giovanni Colombo“ v Milanu. Njegove raziskave temeljijo na abstraktnem delovanju pojmov in resničnosti: mentalne podobe se zmanjšajo na ničelno stopnjo in dosežejo, prikrajšane za svojo fizičnost, intimnejšo in čustveno sfero.

Born in Milan, where he lives and works, in 1987, Cesare Galluzzo trained at the Milan Polytechnic. He soon started an exhibition activity, in Italy and abroad, and his works were acquired for international public and private collections. He teaches at the U.T.E. ‘Cardinale Giovanni Colombo’ in Milan. His research is based on the abstract action of concepts and reality: mental images are reduced to a zero degree and reach, deprived of their physicality, a more intimate and emotional sphere.

Asako Hishiki se je rodila leta 1980 v mestu Hamamatsu v prefekturi Shizuoka na Japonskem. Svoj študij je izpopolnjevala v različnih kulturnih okoljih. Leta 2004 je namreč diplomirala iz slikarstva na Univerzi za umetnost in oblikovanje Joshibi v Tokiu, nato pa je nadaljevala študij na Akademiji za likovno umetnost v Bologni v Italiji, kjer je diplomirala leta 2010.
Asako Hishiki s tehniko lesoreza predlaga umetnost z netelesnimi lastnostmi, v kateri stalni tok postane prav poetičen in je kodificiran v posameznih suspendiranih trenutkih. Preproste oblike, ekstrapolirane iz narave, ki se za kratek čas odkrijejo iz tančice časa, da bi se razkrile. Vse to se združi v potopitveno izkušnjo, v kateri prevladujeta poetičnost in liričnost v nenehni metamorfozi, ki zavrača iluzijo stalnosti.

Asako Hishiki was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture (Japan) in 1980. She cultivated her studies in distinct cultural environments. In fact, she graduated in Painting in 2004 from the Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo, and then went on to the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy, where she graduated in 2010.
Using the technique of woodcut, Asako Hishiki proposes an art with incorporeal traits in which the constant flow becomes poetic and is codified in single suspended moments. Simple forms extrapolated from Nature that is briefly uncovered from the veil of time to be revealed. It all comes together in an immersive experience in which poetics and lyricism prevail in a continuous metamorphosis that rejects the illusion of permanence.

Christiane Löhr se je rodila leta 1965 v Wiesbadnu (Nemčija). Diplomirala je na Kunstakademiji v Düsseldorfu pri Jannisu Kounellisu (1994), pri katerem je nato zaključila magistrski študij (1996). Njena dela se nahajajo v najpomembnejših mednarodnih zasebnih in muzejskih zbirkah. Njene raziskave se razvijajo iz močne povezave z naravo, iz katere nastajajo svetloba in neoprijemljiva dela, ki presegajo vsa vizualna pričakovanja. Čisti elementi, ki odražajo naravni življenjski cikel, so oblikovani v vitke skulpture in instalacije, ki spominjajo na stabilne arhitekturne objekte in strukture. Organski material je iztrgan iz prvotnega konteksta in dobi novo življenje skozi umetničin čisti proces predelave.

Christiane Löhr was born in Wiesbaden (Germany) in 1965. She graduated from the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf with Jannis Kounellis (1994) and then completed a Master of Arts (1996). Her works can be found in the most important international private and museum collections. Her research evolves from a strong connection with Nature from which light and impalpable works that exceed all visual expectations arise. Pure elements, reflecting the natural life cycle, are moulded into slender sculptures and installations that resemble stable architectural objects and structures. Organic material is taken out of its original context and given new life through the artist’s pure process of reworking.

Wilhelm Mundt, rojen leta 1959 v Grevenbroichu (Nemčija), je mednarodno znan po svoji ikonični seriji biomorfnih skulptur, imenovani Trashstones. Ta dela, oblikovana iz proizvodnih odpadkov, obdanih z bleščečimi steklenimi vlakni (GRP), po eni strani razmišljajo o sami praksi kiparskega jezika, po drugi strani pa iščejo dialog z naravo pri predelavi industrijskih materialov in interpretaciji biomorfne oblike. Materiali, postopek in končni rezultat njegovega dela so sredstvo za začetek razprave in ozaveščanje o aktualnih vprašanjih, kot sta ekologija in trajnost. Je vodja katedre za kiparstvo na Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HfBK) v Dresdnu. Živi in dela med Rommerskirchnom, Kölnom in Dresdnom v Nemčiji.

Wilhelm Mundt, born in 1959 in Grevenbroich (Germany), is internationally known for his iconic series of biomorphic sculptures called Trashstones. Moulded from production waste encased in brilliant glass fibre (GRP), these works reflect, on the one hand, on the very praxis of sculptural language and, on the other hand, seek a dialogue with Nature in the recovery of industrial materials and the interpretation of a biomorphic form. The materials, the process and the final outcome of his work are a means to open a debate and an awareness of current issues such as ecology and sustainability. He holds the chair in sculpture at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HfBK) in Dresden. He lives and works between Rommerskirchen, Cologne and Dresden in (Germany).

Mauro Staccioli se je rodil leta 1937 v Volterri in leta 1954 diplomiral na tamkajšnjem umetnostnem inštitutu. Leta 1960 se je preselil na Sardinijo, kjer je začel poučevati v pokrajini Cagliari in skupaj z mladimi sardinskimi umetniki in intelektualci ustanovil skupino Gruppo di Iniziativa. Leta 1963 se je preselil najprej v Lodi in nato v Milano; v letih 1974/75 in 1978/79 je postal direktor Liceo Artistico di Brera, pozneje pa Liceo Artistico Statale di Lovere (BG). Začetki njegove umetniške dejavnosti so trdno prepleteni z njegovimi pedagoškimi izkušnjami ter delom militantnega intelektualca in politika. Po začetnem obdobju, v katerem je eksperimentiral s slikarstvom in gravuro, se je od konca šestdesetih let prejšnjega stoletja posvetil kiparstvu, se osredotočil na odnos med umetnostjo in družbo ter razvil idejo kipa, ki je v tesnem odnosu s krajem, v katerem in za katerega je nastal. Zato razvija „kiparske posege“, ki so v globokem odnosu s prostori, v katere so postavljeni. Umetnik je že na začetku izbral jezik, za katerega sta značilni osnovna geometrija in uporaba preprostih materialov, kot sta beton in železo. Staccioli je bil član Kraljeve akademije znanosti, literature in lepih umetnosti Belgije in nacionalni akademik Akademije San Luca. Staccioli je umrl leta 2018 v Milanu.

Mauro Staccioli was born in 1937 in Volterra and graduated from the local Art Institute in 1954. In 1960, he moved to Sardinia where he began teaching in the province of Cagliari and founded the Gruppo di Iniziativa together with young Sardinian artists and intellectuals. In 1963, he moved first to Lodi and then to Milan; he became the director of the Liceo Artistico di Brera in 1974/75 and 1978/79 and later of the Liceo Artistico Statale di Lovere (BG). The beginnings of his artistic activity are firmly intertwined with his teaching experience and his work as a militant intellectual and politician. After an initial period in which he experimented with painting and engraving, from the end of the 1960s he devoted himself to sculpture, focusing on the relationship between art and society and developing the idea of a sculpture that stands in close relation to the place in which and for which it was made. He therefore develops ‘sculpture-interventions’ that stand in a profound relationship with the spaces in which they are placed. From the outset, the artist chose a language characterised by essential geometry and the use of simple materials such as concrete and iron. Staccioli was a member of the Académie Royale des sciences, des lettres et des beaux-arts de Belgique and a National Academician of the Accademia di San Luca. Staccioli passed away in Milan in 2018.

Willy Verginer se je rodil leta 1957 v Brixnu (BZ). Obiskoval je umetniški inštitut v Ortiseiju, kjer je študiral slikarstvo. Po diplomi je delal v različnih rezbarskih ateljejih v Val Gardeni. V osemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja je s samostojnim študijem kiparstva poskušal preseči tradicijo. Na eni svojih prvih samostojnih razstav je razstavil abstraktna dela, izdelana iz lesa s kombinacijami naravnih materialov. Po letu 1990 je šel skozi obdobje raziskovanja, krize in obdobje majhne ustvarjalnosti. V začetku leta 2000 je radikalno spremenil svoj slog in razstavil figurativne skulpture, ki so razvile izvirno plastično govorico v kombinaciji z akrilnim slikarstvom z odtenki umetnih barv. V zadnjih letih je svoje delo osredotočil na okoljske teme. Willy Verginer živi in dela v Ortiseiju v Italiji.

Willy Verginer was born in Brixen (BZ) in 1957. He attended the Art Institute in Ortisei, where he studied painting. After graduating, he worked in various woodcarving studios in Val Gardena. In the 1980s he tried to go beyond tradition through an autonomous study of sculpture. In one of his first solo exhibitions he exhibited abstract works, made of wood with combinations of natural materials. After the 1990s he went through a period of research, crisis and a period of little creativity. In the early 2000s, he radically changed his style and exhibited figurative sculptures that developed an original plastic language combined with acrylic painting with shades of artificial colours. In recent years, he has focused his work on environmental themes. Willy Verginer lives and works in Ortisei Italy.
