In the extraordinary setting of the Ptuj Castle, situated on a hill that dialogues with the lush surrounding landscape, I sought a dialogue with the space both conceived as a crossroads of passages (of people, cultures, artefacts) and as a place of conservation of extraordinary treasures, a space of transit that restores in the richness of its collections, of the objects preserved here, the sedimented memory of those who inhabited it and made it the precious casket that can be visited today. The many visual suggestions that come from its rich rooms are in many cases the pretext that has triggered the dialogue with the contemporary art works of the eight artists selected for the exhibition Spaces of Transit for Mobile Identities: the gallery of portraits of Central and Eastern European noblemen and gentlewomen, the turqueries, the tapestries with scenes from the Odyssey, the collection of historical musical instruments. The dialogue with space cannot be separated from a reflection on identity shaped by travel, by getting to know new territories, by the encounter between different cultures, and on the body as a borderland.
Od leta 2012 pripravlja razstave in instalacije v različnih institucijah in muzejih v Iranu, Združenih arabskih emiratih, Turčiji in Angliji. Njegovo delo odraža osebno izkušnjo med dvema kulturama, zahodno in bližnjevzhodno, starodavno in sodobno. Z medkulturnimi kodami manipulira in ustvarja podobe, katerih oblike, povezane s spomini, ustvarjajo metaforično okolje, v katerem lahko gledalci povežejo številne pomene, označevalce časa in prostora.
Navid Azimi Sajadi (Tehran 1982) trained in painting at the Faculty of Architecture of Azad University in Tehran and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In 2009, he won the Amedeo Modigliani Prize and after obtaining a Master of Fine Art in MultiMedia Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, he participated in the IX Shanghai Biennale in 2013. Njegovi projekti spreminjajo ustvarjanje, razširjanje in uresničevanje umetnosti. Med nacionalnimi in mednarodnimi institucijami, ki so gostile njegova dela, so: Mart v Roveretu, Galleria di Trento, GAM Galleria d’arte Moderna Achille Forti v Veroni, SPSI Art Museum v Šanghaju; ZKM v Karlsruheju; Italijanski inštitut v San Franciscu, GASC Villa Clerici v Milanu, Collezione Paolo IV v Brescii, Museo dei Bronzi Dorati v Pergoli, Fondazione Lercaro v Bologni, Museo MAGA v Gallaratu, Fondazione Calderara, Vacciago.
Davide Maria Coltro (Verona, 1967) artist and researcher, lives and works between Milan and Lake Maggiore. He has been reflecting on the expressive potential of the screen for over 25 years, adopting an analytical and process-oriented attitude. His projects modify the creation, diffusion and fruition of art. The result of these studies, which began in the late 1990s, is an unprecedented relational platform that the author uses for the creation and dissemination of his electronic painting. The relationship with the history of art and the genres of painting are cornerstones of his research; he himself defines these works as ‘painting beyond matter’ that live on the technological canvas or Quadro Mediale, restoring the image to the experience of time and space, a sort of bilocation in which the artist acts on the work without being present. Among the national and international institutions that have hosted his work are: Mart in Rovereto, Galleria di Trento, GAM Galleria d’arte Moderna Achille Forti in Verona, SPSI Art Museum in Shanghai; ZKM in Karlsruhe; the Italian Institute of San Francisco, GASC Villa Clerici in Milan, Collezione Paolo IV in Brescia, Museo dei Bronzi Dorati in Pergola, Fondazione Lercaro in Bologna, Museo MAGA in Gallarate, Fondazione Calderara, Vacciago.

Začelo se je več ciklov del, ki prikazujejo napise iz tulcev nabojev, med njimi tudi YOU ARE NOT SAFE, del stalne zbirke muzeja P.O.C. Galila v Bruslju.
Nicola Evangelisti (Bologna,1972) graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.Evangelisti’s artistic career is united by a personal use of artificial light as both an expressive medium and an object of reflection. In 2000, he won the Guglielmo Marconi International Prize. His work Big Bang became part of the Targetti Light Art Collection and is exhibited at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, the MAK in Vienna and the MUAR in Moscow.
From 2006 he broadened his poetics to include social themes related to war and terrorism. He began several cycles of works depicting inscriptions made of shell casings, including YOU ARE NOT SAFE, part of the permanent collection of Galila’s P.O.C. museum in Brussels. In 2009, he realised the urban installation Light Blade, now part of the collection of the GAM in Milan.
In 2013, he inaugurated an in-depth exploration of the sacred theme with references to the metaphysics of medieval light. Since 2016, he has been creating environmental light installations for the Biennale Light Art in Mantua at the Palazzo Ducale focusing on the meanings of symbols in ancient religions.

Živi in dela v Verolanuovi (BS).
Odnos z literaturo in filmom ostaja stalen, saj predstavlja pomembno in dialektično sugestijo.
Armida Gandini was born in Brescia in 1968. She lives and works in Verolanuova (BS).
At the centre of her work is the theme of cultural heritage, declined through different and complementary languages. Exploring a subject through various perspectives is a congenial way to implement a reflection that becomes an installation in space. Over the years, she has tackled themes related to the human, such as identity, travel, and borders, in a scenario that is becoming increasingly complex both socially and anthropologically. The relationship with literature and cinema remains constant, representing an important and dialectical suggestion.
She has participated in artist residencies in Europe, Thailand and Cameroon. In 2009 the project Noli me tangere was selected for the Gallarate Prize, becoming part of the MAGA collection and in 2018 the video Pulses won the Paul VI Prize for contemporary art. In 2022 Vanillaedizioni published the catalogue Mi guardo fuori dedicated to the mothers of culture and, on the occasion of her last solo exhibition La terra e le fantasticherie, the monograph Armida Gandini was published by Skira.

Carla Iacono lives and works in Genoa, using different media including photography, collage and installation.
Her work, focused on the themes of the body and metamorphosis, mainly analyses the delicate period of adolescence and its ‘rites of passage’, seen as an extraordinary moment of growth in which the effort to achieve one’s own identity is placed. The constant presence of autobiographical elements, such as the use of her daughter as a subject, emphasise her representation and make her a concrete symbol of the delicate path that, amid doubts and anxieties, leads every adolescent to maturity.
Her works have been published in numerous exhibition catalogues in Italy and abroad and are present in important public and private collections, including the Musinf (Museum of Modern Art of Information and Photography) in Senigallia, the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Villa Croce in Genoa.
Carla Iacono’s art is ‘conceptual’ and uses a mixture of dream, irony, ambiguity and fantasy to ‘unveil’ fragments of memory or the unconscious that resurface in visible form from the depths of the invisible.

Živi in dela v Bologni.Je vizualna umetnica, likovna terapevtka, učiteljica in didaktična referentka triletnega izobraževalnega programa „NUOVE ARTI TERAPIE“ – Vizualne in uprizoritvene umetnosti – podružnica Bologna.
Mona Lisa Tina was born in Francavilla Fontana (Brindisi) in 1977. She lives and works in Bologna. She is a visual artist, art therapist, teacher and didactic referent of the Three-Year Course ‘NUOVE ARTI TERAPIE’ – Visual and Performing Arts – Bologna branch.
Mona Lisa Tina places the Body at the centre of all her artistic investigation as a place of continuous psychic and psychic transformative processes. Her actions propose symbolic rituals within which an ‘alternative’ physicality is exhibited, one that breaks free from standardised models of beauty. Her body thus becomes a space for meeting, listening and real interaction with the Other.
She has exhibited in different museums in Italy and abroad and in galleries and contemporary art research spaces, including: Residence of the Arts – Italian Embassy, Bern (Switzerland), Kunstlerhaus (Hannover), MACRO Testaccio Museum/Asilo (Rome), Carlo Zauli Museum, Faenza (RA), nm>gallery (Munich).
